Darby is the Founder and Principal Accessibility Strategist at Level Playing Field, an award-winning accessibility agency. She is one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 2018, Top 25 Women of Influence 2021, and has a John Fluevog Fellowship shoe - the “Darby” - named after her.
Darby's fifteen years of experience working as an accessibility strategist has allowed her to become an expert in universal design and international accessibility standards. Darby’s expertise in accessibility has developed throughout a wide range of public roles including her achievements as a competitive para-alpine skier. Darby has successfully contributed to the removal of barriers at municipal, provincial and national levels. She is committed to contributing her unique lived-experience and various political appointments to passionately advocate for lasting inclusive environments that benefit everyone.
Darby’s previous political appointments and achievements include serving on the City of Calgary’s Advisory Committee on Accessibility (ACA) from 2011-2015, serving as the co-chair for two years. Darby also represented the City of Calgary at the International Summit on Accessibility in 2014. From 2017 to 2020, Darby served on the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities.
